For the first time in Moldova, and for the most endurant, Sporter organized a Sunday trail race Purcari Wine Run. This time 200 athletes ran the first 10 km trail through the vineyards of one of the largest wine-growing estates in Moldova – Purcari.
On Sunday, August 21, the runners arrived at the Purcari vineyard estate, which is located in Purcari village, 120 km distance from Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. Upon arrival, the participants signed up for the test run and arranged at the start line.
The start of the race was announced, and the runners ran to make history.
The Purcari Wine Trail Run was not easy. The scorching sun, the slopes facing south-west and south-east, turned the race into a real hardcore. Thanks to the four feeding stations, which were located 2.5 km apart, the participants could cool down with water, enjoy fresh fruit and homemade cheese, and taste the Purcari wines, after which the feeding stations were named – Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, and Rose.
By noon, all the runners happily finished, especially those who took part in the trail run for the first time, as the competition lay through their homeland and historical places. Besides, the runners were invited to an excursion of the Purcari vineyard estate, treated to exclusive wines and traditional dishes.
The Purcari Wine Trail Run gave the runners a breath of fresh air, offered a picturesque view of the vine, by the way, grown according to the strict canons of French viticulture. Additionally, the immediate proximity of the Black Sea and the Dniester river smoothed the heated summer air.
As a result, the test run organized by Sporter.md in partnership with Purcari and 999.md was successfully completed.
In the future, it is planned to run other long-distance racing competitions in Purcari vineyards, and possibly not only 10 km, where timing systems will be used, the finishers will be awarded custom medals, and the winners will receive valuable prizes.
